PETROL PRICE REDUCE
reportedly suggested a lowering in the price of fuel on Tuesday, according to ARY News. Finance Minister Ishaq Dar responded by providing clarity.
The finance minister said on Twitter that the claims that the OGRA had suggested a reduction in the price of fuel were "baseless and untrue" and that they were being spread by both print and electronic media.
The minister clarified: “Some claims that OGRA recommended to the government a reduction in the price of Motor Spirit/Petrol with effect from 1st May, 2023, are unsubstantiated and inaccurate.
Imran Ghaznavi, a spokesperson for OGRA, stated in a short press release that the authority did not suggest a reduction in the price of MS/Petrol.
There was no opportunity for a fall in the local rates of MS/Petrol because the recent drop in the international price was cancelled out by the unpaid exchange rate adjustment.
government on 30 April lowered the cost of all petroleum products, with the exception of petrol, by Rs. 5 to 10 per litre for the next two weeks ending on May 15.
- Ishaq Dar said in a video speech that the cost of petrol would stay at Rs282 per litre while the cost of high-speed diesel (HSD) would be decreased by Rs5 per litre to Rs288.
- Kerosene and light-diesel oil prices were also being decreased by Rs10 to Rs164.68 and Rs176.07 per litre, respectively.
