Controversy, an internet video clip purporting to be of the country’s defence minister’s daughter has appeared.
PTI trolls and social media users circulated the 30-second film from what looks to be a nightclub, which they used to criticise the outspoken minister Khawaja Asif for having “dual standards” after the PML-N official made a joke about women applauding at PTI rallies in the past.
The woman shown in the video tossing shapes is dressed in a red culotte dress and a black jacket. In the footage captured by a clubgoer using a mobile device, the girl’s hands flailed violently and swung in sync with the rhythms while other clubgoers watched.
Under strobe lights and Punjabi music, it appears like people are having a good time at the nightclub, but the video became viral online because PTI activists and PML-N detractors posted it without verifying the information.
A number of YouTubers and influencers joined the fray and unsubstantiatedly attacked a Sharif’s cabinet member, spreading the lies for the sake of views.
While Khawaja Asif and other PML-N leaders
remained mum about the smear campaign, some social media users disproved the claim that the image came from an Indian dance party.
As the trend spread, some surfaced with the change Since the ruling party has continued to criticise Imran Khan’s personal life, it appears that it was shared in an effort to harm Khawaja Asif’s and the PML-N’s political standing. Asif is one of the party’s most senior members.
