ISLAMABAD – Imran Khan, the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), asked people to leave their houses today (Saturday) and participate in protests being staged to support the chief judge of Pakistan’s constitution.
“I am urging people to come out today between 5.30 pm and 6.30 pm to show their solidarity with our Constitution and the CJP,” the former prime minister stated in a tweet.
It was urgent to defend “our country, demand our rights, and uphold the Constitution,” he stated. He said that a nation without the rule of law is doomed to failure.
The protests coincide with a dispute between the court and the ruling coalition over the scheduling of early elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The government is resisting the Supreme Court’s order to hold elections in Punjab on May 14 by refusing to release funds and providing security to the Election Commission of Pakistan, which wants to hold simultaneous elections throughout the nation. The Supreme Court has repeatedly stated that its order will not change.
The PTI will stage protests in Lahore, Peshawar, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi to let the PDM administration know that the public won’t stand for its disregard for the law and the constitution.

The former prime minister attacked the PDM in his speech on Friday, stating, “The PTI will fight with PDM until the last ball.” In an effort to move the economy of the nation in the proper direction, the government has no strategy.
He emphasised that now was a crucial time for everyone to support the Supreme Court and asked the populace to demonstrate in support of the Chief Justice. In Lahore, Mr. Khan declared that he would personally lead the demonstration.
Mr. Khan persisted in attacking his political rivals while charging that the current administration was using illegitimate means to achieve its goals. He said, “These guys used to mock me by requesting the dissolution of the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies for their own convenience.
To stage a pro-CJP demonstration in Islamabad, PTI approaches the IHC.
“Our basic civil liberties have been abused. Do anything. We are not going to leave the nation. The mafia has been our enemy. Under the guise of an agreement with the (IMF), excuses are being made, Mr. Khan claimed.
Mr. Khan remarked, “under our time, the inflation rate was 12.5%, which has now grown to 36.5 percent, in reference to the inflation rate under his administration.
The current leaders, he bemoaned, “are incapable of regulating the crisis in the country, as I have constantly stated. Within a year, the country’s exports started to drop. The nation’s foreign exchange reserves had reached a record high at the time of the collapse of our administration.
In response to a question on the elections, Mr. Khan stated, “I will agree with the government to hold simultaneous elections, if the government is able to present its economic plan until October.”

“The current rulers have resorted to the tactics of putting an end to the politics of the PTI at any cost,” Mr. Khan continued. Elections will only be held by the government when they believe the PTI is weaker.
He reminded that the Punjab Assembly elections will take place on May 14 in accordance with the Supreme Court’s ruling. Mr. Khan continued by stating that the administration was not prepared to accept the ruling made by the Supreme Court in this case.
When the government refuses to follow the court’s ruling, he continued, “there is no protection of the fundamental human rights.”
