FBR
ISLAMABAD: According to ARY News, which cited reliable sources, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is experiencing difficulties since its personnel have allegedly requested vacations till June in order to document their protest against rising inflation.
As many as 117 FBR income tax officials in grades 17 to 19 have addressed a letter to Asim Ahmed, chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue, protesting a low pay scale.
The letter stated that because of our poor remuneration, we are unable to cover the costs of holding public office in this time of exorbitant inflation.
The country’s economy may suffer significantly if FBR officers were absent during the vital budgeting process. The FBR is in charge of bringing in money for the government.
In an interview with ARY News, the FBR chairman said he will discuss the officers’ pay rate with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He added that starting in 2015, the tax officer’s performance bonus was taken.
An odd request was made earlier by a Federal Bureau of Revenue official in a letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to handle household costs in the face of skyrocketing inflation.
