Reuters, May 9 – In a startling step that risks new unrest in the nuclear-armed nation, Pakistani security forces detained former Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday at the Islamabad High Court, according to his aides.

Khan, a former cricketer who is now in politics, was detained in connection with a corruption investigation, according to Geo TV.

Khan was taken away in a van by dozens of security men wearing riot control gear, according to video of the arrest that Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party published.
