Turkey’s capital city of Ankara was hit by a string of severe thunderstorms on Wednesday, which caused a sofa to fly from a high-rise structure.
On social media, shocking video footage of someone’s living room furniture being thrown over a high-rise building has gone viral. Dramatic video shows the sofa taking off through the air before slamming into a nearby municipal structure.
The terrible storm left a path of devastation in its wake, uprooting several trees and tearing off building roofs.
The video footage astounds viewers and sparks widespread social media sharing as it demonstrates the unpredictable and awesome force of nature.
The hurricane destroyed Ankara’s infrastructure with storm-force winds that may reach speeds of up to 45 km per hour.
The entire collapse of the roof of a shopping centre in the Etimesgut neighbourhood was a particularly horrific event. The whole roof was torn off by the strong winds, leaving the building’s interior exposed to the elements.
Furthermore, a nearby mosque in the same neighbourhood was severely damaged by the storm’s intensity, which also struck its tower. Tragically, the fall of the minaret resulted in one person being hurt.
