The minimum and suggested system requirements for Lords of the Fallen were eventually updated to the game’s Steam website by developer CI Games after the recent availability of pre-orders.
By comparison to the quality of visuals shown in recent gameplay trailers, it is not an exaggeration to suggest that they are pretty low. In order to highlight the developer’s use of Unreal Engine 5 technology, particularly the Lumen global illumination technology, Lords of the Fallen was also featured on Epic’s State of Unreal live broadcast earlier this year.

These options undoubtedly do not take into consideration any prospective ray tracing functionality, but Lumen was always intended to be a software solution.
The Lords of the Fallen series’ second entry had a difficult development history. It was originally shown in late 2014, soon after the debut of the first game (with the same name), which was perhaps the first successful Souls-like game based on FromSoftware’s paradigm.
However, after the breakup with German company Deck13 (creator of the original Lords of the Fallen), CI Games made an effort to make the game in-house. That didn’t go well, and Defiant Studios was hired as a new developer in 2018. As a result, the project was abandoned.
Even less time was spent working on the project with Defiant, since CI Games disclosed yet another breakup with them in 2019. The publisher assisted in establishing Hexworks the next year, a brand-new company that would handle the much anticipated sequel.
Lords of the Fallen, a game set “aeons” after the events of the previous title, will be published on October 15 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X, thus it appears that production went more easily this time. The two realms of the living and the dead, a completely linked game environment, nine beginning classes, extensive character customization, and smooth co-op multiplayer with a second player (and optional PvP invasions) are a few of its standout features.
