Delhi, World Cup 2023: On October 5, 2023, the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup will begin. For the first time in more than ten years, India is serving as the host nation for the ODI World Cup. Ten Indian cities, including Ahmedabad, Pune, Mumbai, Delhi, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Dharamsala, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Kolkata, will host the tournament.
The World Cup games will be held at Arun Jaitely Stadium in Delhi. It was first built in 1883 as the Feroz Shah Kotla arena and was called after the neighboring Kotla fort. After Eden Gardens in Kolkata, it is the second-oldest functioning international cricket arena in India.
The stadium was renamed in honor of Arun Jaitley, a former finance minister and president of the DDCA, on September 12. As of 2017, the Indian national cricket team had not dropped an ODI or Test match at the venue in more than ten years.
