NDMA Chairman
In order to examine the nation’s present flood and monsoon scenario, the National Emergencies Operations Centre convened a special meeting with key stakeholders in Islamabad.
During the conference, which was presided over by Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority, it was discussed how to control river flows during the current monsoon spell and assess the damage caused by the Sutlej River floods.
The Sulemanki headworks would reach a very high flood level today, and a peak in the River Jhelum’s flow would be seen from tomorrow through Friday, which would affect the level of the Mangla dam. On the Sutlej River, a briefing was given regarding relief, rescue, and evacuation efforts.
