KARACHI: Raju, a chimpanzee who was 26 years old, suffered a cardiac arrest inside the walls of the Karachi Zoo.
On Monday morning, zoo personnel found the ape unconscious inside his enclosure.
The deaths of various animals at the Karachi Zoo have drawn attention due to a string of sad events.
The zoo has lamented the loss of several babies, an elephant, two lions, and two lionesses over the past 15 months.
Raju the chimpanzee, who died most recently, had reportedly taken ill, according to zoo managers.
Observations indicate that this alarming trend has been significantly impacted by poor animal care.
This tragic sequence includes the unexpected deaths of two lions, one elephant, and numerous deer offspring over the course of an 18-month period.
The 26-year-old chimpanzee’s death was investigated by veterinarians, according to the director of the zoo, Iqbal Nawaz.
Raju has been a significant role in the zoo and is well-known there.
The zoo also houses two female chimpanzees in addition to Raju.
A post-mortem examination is expected to reveal more information about Raju’s passing’s circumstances.
The chimpanzee had a heart attack, Dr. MH Pirzada, a consultant at the Karachi Zoo, said in a video statement.
