“Exorswift” is aiming to compete with “Barbenheimer.”
Taylor Swift, the biggest name in pop music, revealed on Thursday that her Eras Tour will begin at a theatre near you on October 13.
“The Eras Tour has been the most profound, electrifying experience of my life so far, and I’m thrilled to announce that it will soon be available to watch on a big screen starting on October 13th in North America!” Tweets from Swift.
The Exorcist: Believer, the most recent installment in the Exorcist franchise, also comes out on the same day as the release.
The hashtag #Exorswift has been trending on social media in anticipation of an exciting double feature, evoking the “Barbenheimer” phenomenon from earlier this summer that brought in significant box office revenue.
AMC Theatres announced shortly after the announcement that they had to increase server capacity to handle the soaring demand for tickets.
According to the firm, “AMC has increased its ticket server capacity to handle traffic at more than 5 times the current record for the most tickets ever sold in an hour” in preparation for the first day of advance ticket demands.
After Ticketmaster mishandled the sale of concert tickets for the Eras Tour, which led to a lawsuit, the safeguards could be a safe bet.
The lawsuit asserts that despite knowing it could not fulfil all demand for tickets to Swift’s shows, Ticketmaster still gave pre-sale codes to supporters. The plaintiffs claim that Live Nation Entertainment’s service sold a significant number of tickets to bots and scalpers, leaving fewer seats for fans.
The enormously well-liked Eras Tour is credited with improving the economy. Last month, market research company QuestionPro predicted that her tour will boost the global economy by $5 billion.
According to PollStar, a trade newspaper for the live music industry, The Eras Tour has already generated more than $300 million in revenue. At an average cost of $253, more than 1.1 million tickets have already been sold.
The Eras Tour movie was released after Swift’s U.S. leg of the tour, during which many fans were unable to see a performance. Fans of Swift may have a second chance as a result of her choice to shift her tour to the big screen.
